Karsten was born and raised in Calgary. Growing up in a hiking family, he knew at age eight he wanted to be a park warden, and he always knew he wanted "to make the world a better place for wildlife". He moved to Canmore after graduating from the University of Calgary. For more info, click on.

Leanne met Karsten when they were four years old and the common interests of childhood matured into the common interests as adults. Leanne is an avid outdoor enthusiast and an experienced mountaineer. She works at Mountain Equipment Co-op in Vancouver and is completing her training to teach Yoga. For more info, click on.

As a high-energy, very intelligent dog bred to do outdoor work, Webster has lucked into the perfect domestic situation. Working next door to the SPCA, after shifts Karsten would go and play with the dogs. He was struck with the intelligence of Webster. For more info, click on.
